Aline Du Pasquier – website

Summary:

Tri-lingual website for soprano Aline Du Pasquier with concert calendar and audio samples.

Notes:

Making a site fully tri-lingual and yet easy to update for the client is quite a challenge. Textpattern was the CMS of choice for this task, because of the excellent customisability and the freely available Multi Lingual Publishing Pack.

kilianmuster.com - previous blog

kilianmuster.com blog design

Summary:

Re-design of Kilian Muster’s blog. Theme for the renewal was “back to the roots”. For the blogger back to his roots as typographer, for Pixelblast it also meant back to the roots of clear and basic typography.

Notes:

This design has found much recognition and praise by the Web design community (sixrevisions.com, Smashing Magazine, unmatchedstyle, PVM garage etc.). The site has been merged into this new Pixelblast site and can’t be accessed anymore.

Otto Japan blog gadget & LP

Summary:

Windows Vista gadget design and download page design for Otto Japan’s blog.

Notes:

For the blog I created previously for Otto Japan, I tried to provide a way of keeping up-to-date with the blog that is less technical than RSS feeds. This requirement came from the slightly higher age of Otto Japan’s customers, unlikely to be using RSS readers.

Otto Japan horoscope page

Summary:

Design and setup of a semi-automated horoscope page to increase repeat visitors.

Notes:

Apart from the design, highly cost-efficient update handling was key. A semi-automated process was established, where the horoscope data from the horoscope vendor was uploaded to the servers monthly and automatically converted for import into the database. The PC and mobile website made use of this (later on a “Vista Gadget” would also pull the data from the server).

Otto Japan blog design

Otto Japan, company blog

Summary:

Blog design, concept and implementation for Otto Japan.

Notes:

Company blogs are not very widespread yet in Japan, but this was the right place to disseminate more causal information to their customers. Convincing the client authentic employees had to be authors for the blog, and to gain acceptance, enabling comments would be essential was not an easy task. Japanese companies often are horrified by the prospect of random people leaving their unfiltered opinions on a blog run by the company, but after enabling comments it was clear that the Japanese, well-behaved as they are, wouldn’t vandalise a website.

Brastel animated TV commercial

Brastel, TV commercial

Summary:

TV commercial for Brastel, a Brazilian phone company. The commercial was aired in Japan on CNN and BBC.

Notes:

To establish the at the time rather unknown brand, the brand colours were emphasised, so people would directly connect the colours with Brastel. A silhouette-style animation would achieve the highest colour impact so a fully animated commercial was created.

After completion of the main English version also Brazilian, Chinese, Bengali and Korean versions of the commercial were produced.
